Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is a treatment method that is often feared in oral and dental health, but has a very high success rate thanks to today’s technology. It is usually applied in case of irreversible inflammation in the nerve or root tissue of the tooth. The aim is to clean the inflamed or infected tooth tissue, disinfect the canal and then protect the tooth by filling it with special filling materials.
The treatment process begins with a detailed dental examination and, if necessary, X-rays. At this stage, it is determined which tooth requires root canal treatment and how far the inflammation has progressed. The tooth is opened and the root canals are drained to remove inflamed or infected tissue. These canals are then widened and disinfected with special antiseptic solutions. After making sure that the infection is completely removed, the root canal of the tooth is filled with special filling materials and the tooth is sealed.
Root canal treatment is usually performed under local anaesthesia and is a painless procedure for most patients. There may be mild pain or sensitivity that may last for a few days after the treatment, but this can usually be easily controlled with painkillers.
Today, thanks to technological advances in dentistry, root canal treatments have become much more effective and comfortable. The use of microscopes, more effective disinfectants and advanced filling materials increase the success rate of the treatment.
